Are You Riding the Negative Train?
Some days in our lives can be kind of like a train ride. Only instead of destination stops being platforms like Center City, Uptown, Somerset. Etc. The destination stops are platforms like sad, hurt, offended, hostile, alone. At times, our emotions can take us to these places, and if we are not careful to try and redirect our emotions, we will not only spend our day there, but we will return there the next day, and the day after that.
Don’t get on board the negative train. Instead, no matter how you feel, try to “think” yourself into a good mood. Take the wheel and steer what direction and destination your day is going to take. Even if all you can manage is to determine and steer your thoughts and emotions for an hour at a time, that is okay!
It is okay because you are taking some level of control instead of laying down, falling apart, going willingly with the negative flow. Try to be more aware of how you think, feel and then behave. Try to redirect your thoughts, which will have an effect on your emotions. Try to divert your mind from whatever you are thinking about or that has been consuming you, to something that is interesting, humorous, pleasant to look at etc. In other words, something positive and engaging.
Decide and control where you want to go. Where your day’s destination will be!
